Governor Gavin Newsom arrives in Europe and ROASTS foreign leaders for “rolling over” for Trump because he’s a “T-Rex” and they need to “stand tall, stand firm, stand united” against him.

It was time for some tough love and Newsom brought the heat…

“I can’t take this complicity of people rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders,” Newsom said at the Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland. “I mean handing out crowns, the Nobel prizes that are being given away. It’s just pathetic. And I hope people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage.” [This is definitely NOT “tough love” talk. It’s patronizing, insulting and dismissive.]

“The Europeans should decide for themselves what to do. But one thing they can’t do is what they’ve been doing and they’ve been playing. This guy’s playing folks for fools, and it’s embarrassing,” he continued. [Newsom is patronizing all of Europe’s leaders, and doesn’t seem aware he’s doing it. American Exceptionalism at its most obvious]

“[Trump is] a T Rex.,” said Newsom. “You mate with him or he devours you, one or the other, and you need to stand up to it… They need to stand tall, stand firm, stand united.” [Which they are doing without your unwanted help.]

“Look, a year ago, we should have been having this conversation, and they didn’t. And now you’re paying the price, exactly what anyone, objective observer, would have anticipated. We’d be where we are today. [They don’t need Newsom to tell them water is wet, which is what he keeps insisting.]

“I don’t want to be hyperbolic about it, but this guy’s a wrecking ball,” he went on. “I hope people are waking up to what we’re dealing with. This is code red. I mean, you guys are still playing by old set of rules, everybody, the globe is, with this guy. He’s unmoored. It’s the law of the jungle, it’s the rule of Don, and I hope it’s donning on the world what we’re up against. I mean, this is serious.” [If Newsom doesn’t want to be perceived as hyperbolic, he should seriously re-think this strategy. He’s making no friends with either his allies or his constituency, and no headway against his enemies. He’s never been a deep thinker, and diplomacy is not one of his strengths]

“This guy is, he’s not mad, he’s very intentional, but he’s unmoored, and he’s unhinged, and it requires you. The goal is whatever he wants it to be. The goal is the world in his image,” said Newsom. “He’s a narcissist. I mean, it’s just, it’s no advice, it’s common sense. Why don’t folks do what they say publicly, what they’re saying in private? Why don’t they just simply do what they know is right? I mean, everybody’s talking behind his back, they’re laughing, and meanwhile, they’re sucking up to him.” [Newsom is razor-close to exhibiting the same narcissism he claims everyone knows is Trump’s problem]

“It’s embarrassing. I mean, this is, you’re modeling behavior for our kids, generations of folks. This is not diplomacy, this is stupidity,” Newsom added. [That’s right, so stop modeling it further by fighting “fire-with-fire.”]

The governor is absolutely right. Trump only responds to strength. It’s time for the rest of the world to start pushing back and exerting real economic pressure to stop his increasingly dangerous behavior. [The European world is strong enough to push back and exert both economic and diplomatic pressure on Trump’s adventurism, but it will only work with a yielding-to-a-superior-force-with-strength tactic, not a straight take-it-in-the-gut stance of defiance. Trump’s response to strength directed at him is to step up his lunacy, damning the consequences. He’s never been worried about consequences because he’s never been called on any of his actions, ever]

Beyond that, it’s great news that Newsom is attending Davos to represent California on the world stage and to provide competent, sane American leadership to counterbalance Trump’s deranged fascism. His presence there will remind the rest of the world that the United States is not defined by Trump. We are capable of producing real leaders and one day we’ll return to a state of sanity. [Newsom attended and was denied a megaphone. So much for the promise of leadership]

Would you vote for Newsom for president? [No. Newsom is not that leader. His general character makeup contains too many of the negative attributes I see in Trump that have put us into this sorry mess; he sucks up to money, plays to his self-image, glad hands his constituency, and lords his privilege and position over the general public. I think he’s a billionaire wannabe which runs counter to every progressive strategy I can imagine]
