Carol Rae Toye Wieck Scott Anderson Burns Long
April 27, 1935 – December 2, 2025
It’s been an eventful week, but now that I have some respite, I can now tell you my mother, Carol Rae Burns, under home hospice, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Tuesday December 2, 2025.
I want to thank her hospice care team, her oncologist, and especially her cardiologist, who saved her life after a massive heart attack in 2004, one she should not have survived, to become his “twenty-year miracle.” As far as I am concerned, my mother was a seventy-year miracle, and I was the beneficiary.
Ya done good, Mom. Ya done good.
Now, go be with my sister, Cinda, my brother, Aaron, and the forever love of your life, Todd Reid Burns.
And last, but not least, I thank my nephew, my sister’s son, Cody Ray Crosetti, for his thoughtfulness and support this year in helping me nurse my mother’s appendectomy convalescence, abdominal infection recovery, and after the discovery of Stage 4 lung cancer, the caring transitioning of her into home hospice.
And I want to thank all the people who met my mother and welcomed her into my World of Comic Books and Fantasy. She never felt more welcomed than, over the years, when I would tell her people who met her still ask about her.
Thank you all for your recent good thoughts, vibes and love for my mother’s life. I believe they helped make her transition a peaceful, loving one.
