BrentBlog – New Website Now Live
My new BrentAndersonArt.com website is now live. What I thought would take an hour turned out to take three days, and today I still need to tweak, with my IT guy’s help, the Contact/Order page so the site can accept PayPal. I didn’t know that if I changed the domain from one service provider to another, something called domain propagation needed to be done and the process could take up to 48 hours to finish! For the couple of you reading this who may not know (from Wix.com) “Domain propagation is the process of updating name servers around the world following any changes to your DNS records. It can take up to 48 hours to complete. This means that your site may not be accessible from all devices, or may appear as insecure during this time.” Who knew? Obviously most people.
Any Contact messages sent to the old website before the new tweaks are made, will go to my IT guy who will forward them to me. And this seems like the appropriate place to introduce and thank that IT guy, Jon Krop. When I asked around my Facebook circle for recommendations, a mutual friend told me Jon had been hired to set up WordPress websites for other clients, mostly musicians. But I figured musicians were artists, too, so what’s the diff, right? Jon had never designed a visual artist website, I believe, but was game to learn, so he jumped right in and gave me a very welcome helping hand. Thanks, Jon! (I trust you won’t mind being called at 3am to resolve some bonehead prob I may have in the near future!)
There isn’t currently any artwork for sale in the Galleries Pages. I was hoping to go live well before San Diego Comic-Con so I could start taking orders and commissions during the show, but that will have to wait until next year when I have catalogued, scanned, archived and posted the artwork. I do plan to attend the con in 2025 after 12 years of being absent. I kinda miss the overwhelm, I guess!
Please note, I will begin posting the first pages of art for sale over the next month, however. I didn’t mean to imply I was going to wait until next year’s Comic-Con to start selling art!
Good afternoon and enjoy the con if you are there!
